Arthur Fagen starts the year with a new production in Atlanta
Atlanta Opera premieres a new production of Salome, the one-act opera composed by Richard Strauss based on the Oscar Wilde play. Mr. Fagen conducts an outstanding cast featuring soprano Jennifer Holloway in the title role, Jennifer Larmore as Herodias, Nathan Berg as John the Baptist, Frank van Aken as Herod Antipas. The production, directed by Tomer Zvulun and with set scenes and projections designed by Erhard Rom, opens on Jan. 25 and runs through Feb. 2 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre (further performances on Jan. 28 and 31).
