After a successful summer conducting Mozart’s Don Giovanni in Costa Rica, Mr. Fagen starts the season 2018/2019 with the IU Symphony Orchestra in Indiana on September 16, performing works by Ives, Brahms and Mendelssohn. In October follows a Naxos’ recording of music by Henry Cowell; soon after he returns to Indianapolis and Bloomington to conduct the opera Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck at the IU Opera Theater. The New Year 2019 will see him in Vienna with the ORF Radio-Symphonie Orchester, recording for Naxos music by Dawson, Kay and Gould. In January 19, Mr. Fagen will conduct the IU Philharmonic Orchestra with works by Webern and Rachmaninov. In February he returns to Europe to conduct the Wuerttembergische Philharmonie (Weill, Korngold, R. Strauss) on the 18, and on February 25 he conducts the Beer Sheva Sinfonietta with works by Diamond, Tchaikovsky and Haydn. During April and May 2019 Mr. Fagen will conduct La Traviata at the Atlanta Opera, with soprano Markova, Chang and Veloz, and soon after, at the end of May, he will be at the Bellingham Festival conducting works by Mozart and Bruckner.
