AUGUST 2010

Arthur Fagen will appear at the Bolzano Festival on Thursday 19 August 2010, conducting a program featuring Liszt’s Sonata in B Minor in an exceptional transcription for orchestra by Leo Weiner. The enormous musical architecture of the piece is developed masterfully. The program includes a transcription for orchestra of the Wanderfantasy by Schubert – Liszt was influenced by Franz Schubert’s work on the structure of his own sonata – and the Grande Fantaisie Symphonique on themes from Berlioz’s “Lelio“. Mr. Fagen will be joined by soloists Alexander Kobrin and Alexander Romanovsky, both winners of the Busoni Competition. The concert is broadcast live on RAI Radio 3, the most important Italian radio channel for classical music.
