Following his successful collaboration with the Orchestra Haydn Orchester, Arthur Fagen returns to Italy in March to conduct two concerts, in Bolzano on March 30th, and in Trento on March 31st. The program includes the world première of ‘Ndyah’ by Italian composer Michele Dall’Ongaro, and Mendelssohn’s Symphony n.3.
The recent Naxos recording of Martinu’s Piano Concertos has been awarded an Editor’s Choice in the March 2010 issue of Gramophone Magazine. The three works for piano and orchestra on the awarded disc span twenty years of the Czech composer’s peripatetic career, from the Concertino to the Third and Fifth Piano Concertos. Mr. Fagen is devoted to Martinu’s music and has also completed the six symphonies for Naxos (please see reviews).
As a regular guest of the Atlanta Opera, Mr. Fagen will conduct a new production of Mozart’s Magic Flute in April and May, 2010.
