ARTHUR FAGEN conducts three world premières this season
On April 8 Arthur Fagen will conduct a world première of the Opera in Two Acts ‘Vincent’, by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Bernard Rands, commissioned by the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. ‘Vincent’ suggests an outline of Van Gogh’s late years. The work promises to be quite a marvelous production and through the magic of contemporary theater technology, quite a spectacle of color and van Gogh’s work. The librettist is J. D. McClatchy. This is the second world première conducted by Mr. Fagen this season: last November he was invited by the Teatro Massimo of Palermo, Italy, to conduct with enormous success the première of Alice nel Paese delle Meraviglie by Giovanni D’Aquila. In addition, Mr. Fagen will conduct in June 2011 at the Theatre of Saarbrucken a world première of the Opera in Three Acts ‘Le Cid’, by French-German composer Théodore Gouvy.
