Mr. Fagen is currently conducting the Richmond Symphony Orchestra with a program including Cesar Franck’s Symphony in D minor, Beethoven’s Egmont Overture , and ‘Nanking! Nanking’, a Threnody for Orchestra and Pipa, – a four-stringed Chinese instrument ( often referred to as the Chinese lute) – by composer Bright Sheng. On November 22 he will conduct the Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, joined by pianist Benedetto Lupo in Mozart’s Piano Concerto K. 448. The program includes Haydn’s Symphony nr. 84 in E-Flat Major of the so-called Paris Symphonies. Mr. Fagen will open the evening with Beethoven’s Prometheus Overture op. 43.
